3 Reasons Why Wood Kitchen Cabinets Are The Way To Go

When you are remodeling a kitchen, you have tons of choices to make regarding the overall vibe that you want to go for. With your kitchen cabinets being one of the main focal points (and the most expensive part, typically) you may be toying with the idea of trying out different materials to go with, like metal or even a composite wood. While both of those options can be a good choice for some, wood cabinets tend to be a better option for homeowners overall.

1. You Can Sand Them Down

Whether you decide to go with a wood stain or you have your wood cabinets painted, the finish that you go with today may not be so popular in five or ten years. While you can just have your cabinets completely replaced when you no longer like their look, that's not necessarily economical. With wooden cabinets, you can sand them down and have them refinished, which will give them an entirely new look without you having to actually replace them.

2. They Can Take a Beating

When you have little kids, pets, or just careless adults that live in your house, you realize just how easily your furniture and cabinetry can get beaten up. Because solid wood cabinetry is a lot sturdier than other materials, it's going to take a beating fairly well when it gets dinged, slammed, or just mistreated. And, if you were to get a chip inside any of the wood cabinets, you can always fill it in or sand it down to even it out.

3. They Last Longer

If you are like most people, remodeling your kitchen isn't something you do very often or that you plan on ever having to do again. Because remodeling is such a rarity, you want to make sure that you choose kitchen products and finishes that are going to last a really long time. With solid wood kitchen cabinets, you know that they are going to last decades upon decades because wood is built to last, whereas composite materials or even metal won't necessarily be the same.

Even though wood cabinets may end up costing you more money upfront, the benefits are worth it in the long run. Plus, if you go to resell your house, having solid wood cabinets can be a selling factor for many potential buyers.
